Questions about performing in Side C

Q: What is Side C?

A: Side C is an open mic variety show cabaret that revolves around full-length albums. YOU can sign up for a slot and take the stage to perform a song from the chosen album. You’ll have the entirety of the song to showcase your talents. Side C welcomes performers from different artistic backgrounds, whether you're a circus artist, dancer, drag artist, or even an amateur artist. BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and SWers are highly encouraged to sign up. We believe in inclusivity and celebrate all forms of artistic expression. So, if you're eager to share your talent, sign up and be part of the show!

Q: How long is each performance slot?

A: The length of the song you choose. Each performer is given the duration of their chosen song from the album as their performance slot. We encourage you to start and end your act offstage to ensure smooth transitions between acts.

Q: Can performers incorporate any type of act during their performance?

A: Absolutely! At Side C, we encourage performers to unleash their creativity. You can choose any act or performance style that suits your artistic vision. The stage is yours to express yourself and entertain the audience. You could even make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on stage. Acts should be appropriate for ages 13+. Side C has zero tolerance for acts deemed to be racist, sexist, ableist, homophobic, transphobic, whorephobic, xenophobic, or otherwise discriminatory.

Q: How should performers start and end their acts?

A: Performers are requested to begin and end their acts OFFSTAGE. This helps create a smooth and seamless experience for the performers and the audience. Ideally, any aerial rigging or large set pieces will be moved within the duration of the song. However, if this is not possible due to safety, please reach out to us.

Q: Will there be a technical rehearsal?

A: Yes, there will be one technical rehearsal provided to ensure smooth transitions between acts. During this rehearsal, performers can work on their stage entrances, exits, and any technical requirements they may have. Performers are encouraged to coordinate with acts before and after them. If you need more information about the rehearsal space and schedule, contact us.

Q: How does casting work?

A: Casting for Side C is a sign-up process. Interested performers can fill out a form to express their interest in performing. You are cast in the show when you sign up. You can choose your preferred song from the chosen album as your first choice. If that song is already taken, you can list it as your second choice to sign up to perform as backup.

Q: Are the performers paid?

A: Yes! Each act will receive a stipend, plus a percentage based on ticket sales. Please inquire for more details.

Q: Can I suggest an album for a future Side C show?
